Grant Application / Food Waste Composting & Education Pilot Project Management (Prince William County, Virginia)

After GBB prepared a grant application on behalf of Prince William County, VA, for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA‐NRCS) Community Compost and Food Waste Reduction Project grant program, the County was awarded federal grant funding for its Public Schools Food Waste Composting & Education Pilot Program to be implemented at six schools. The program was set to divert food waste from the landfill and into its state-of-the-art advanced composting facility; receive finished compost from the facility; and deliver educational programming regarding food waste diversion to engage students, teachers, school staff, administrators, and community members.

GBB was tasked with providing the project planning and management necessary to successfully keep the team on task, on schedule, and on budget by working collaboratively with the County and its project partners, the Energy Management and Sustainability Division of the County Public School Office of Facilities Service, and the Virginia Cooperative Extension‐Prince William Unit.
