McLean, VA (July 13, 2022) – Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc. (GBB) is pleased to announce the promotions of four of its sustainability and solid waste management consultants and the hiring of Ynette Evans as Marketing & Proposal Coordinator. The four promotions include:
- Jennifer Porter – Promoted from Vice President to Senior Vice President,
- Eugenia Manwelyan – Promoted from Senior Consultant to Project Manager,
- Ricky Phillips – Promoted from Consultant II to Senior Consultant, and
- Danielle Moyer – Promoted from Consultant I to Consultant II

Jennifer Porter – GBB Senior Vice President
A Certified Practitioner in Zero Waste Principles and Practices by the Solid Waste Association of North America and the California Resource Recovery Association, Ms. Porter is a sustainable development leader with more than 20 years of experience working on government and private sector sustainability initiatives. Since joining GBB in 2017, Jennifer has managed multiple key projects, including leading the team planning and implementing the development of the Kent County, MI Sustainable Business Park with an ambitious goal to achieve 90% waste reduction by 2030. She also led multiple long-term strategic solid waste management planning projects for a wide range of communities.
As GBB Sustainability Officer, she oversees the firm’s internal sustainability efforts, leads sustainability planning assignments for clients, and spearheads activities that increase diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice within GBB and for its clients.
Before joining GBB, Jennifer was Conservation Program Coordinator for more than six years with the City of Portland, OR, Office of Sustainable Development, which is now called the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. While in Portland, she managed successful citywide recycling changes; headed the renewal of the 10-year franchise for the city’s then 23 residential waste haulers; established strong working relationships with various stakeholders; and developed a statistical model for a commercial food composting program. Her diverse experience includes acting as Chief Operating Officer at Rivertown Composting; and Manager of Corporate Sustainability for Healthy Buildings.

Eugenia Manwelyan – GBB Project Manager
A well-versed planning practitioner, Ms. Manwelyan has more than 10 years of experience in sustainability, resilience, community engagement, and training/education in a wide range of multi-disciplinary roles as a county government senior planner, consultant, and non-profit executive director, and entrepreneur.
Eugenia has worked with municipalities on resilience planning and sustainability compliance; is adept at working with diverse constituent groups, including staff, boards, committees, volunteers, and external audiences; and has initiated and strengthened community and institutional partnerships.
With GBB since 2020, Eugenia has had a key role in multiple projects, including strategic solid waste management planning for the City of Charlottesville, VA; Albemarle County, VA; Charles County, MD; the Central Virginia Waste Management Authority, VA; James City County, VA; Kent County, MI; and the Southeast Berrien County Landfill Authority, MI.
Eugenia has a strong training and education background that includes being a Visiting Professor and Teaching Assistant at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation; founding an environmental leadership training program with 500 alumni; and developing and teaching programs and curricula.

Ricky Phillips – GBB Senior Consultant
Certified as a TRUE (Total Resource Use and Efficiency) Advisor by Green Business Certification Inc., the premier organization independently recognizing excellence in green business industry performance and practice globally, Ms. Phillips joined GBB in 2019 after graduating with a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Communities from Binghamton University, NY.
In addition to providing key research, support, and assistance on a wide range of GBB projects that include collection procurements, waste characterization studies, operations reviews, composting feasibility studies, development of training material, and zero C&D waste recycling, Ricky is a member of GBB’s Sustainability Team that supports circular economy, zero waste, and sustainable business park initiatives.
Before joining GBB, Ricky was Community Schools Graduate Assistant for more than 2 years at Binghamton University’s Center for Civic Engagement, cultivating partnerships that strengthen communities and develop active and engaged citizens.

Danielle Moyer – GBB Consultant II
With GBB since 2021, Ms. Moyer recently graduated from Binghamton University with a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Communities and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies.
Danielle is an important member of the GBB team working on a large sustainability project focused on achieving zero construction and demolition waste for a sizable retail company with a desire to enhance the sustainability of its operations.
Before joining GBB, Danielle was a Project Coordinator at Binghamton University’s ambitious Living Building project, which aims to design and construct a “Living Building Challenge Certified” environmentally friendly classroom and research facility.

Ynette Evans – New Marketing & Proposal Coordinator
With 10 years of marketing experience, Ms. Evans is highly proficient in marketing communications and public relations.
“Ynette is a great addition to GBB’s dynamic and entrepreneurial team of professionals with diverse backgrounds, expertise, and skills,” noted Mr. Simmons. “Complementing our support team, she primarily focuses on supporting the outreach and marketing communications of the firm, assisting with the development of proposals and marketing materials, and assisting our multi-disciplinary group of consultants with the production of deliverables and outputs.”
Before joining GBB, Ynette was most recently Marketing Communications Manager at a full-service management consulting firm with responsibilities that included developing and managing proposals, presentations, and reports; and designing and managing a website, email communications, and other marketing collateral. She was also Events & Marketing Coordinator at a community-based, not-for-profit hospital, where she successfully planned, coordinated, and executed a wide range of initiatives. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Hampton University, VA.
