McLean, VA (June 26, 2017) – Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc. (GBB) announced today that the H.E. Butt Family Foundation (HEBFF) has issued a Request for Bids (RFB) for one new refuse compactor, and one or two gable-top roll-off containers to use for the collection of recyclables. The compactor, to be installed on the property of the HEBFF camp located in Leakey, TX, about 2 hours northwest of San Antonio, will replace the current refuse containers, which have open tops. Firms can bid on either the compactor, the recycling containers, or both.
“The new resources sought in the RFB will create a convenient location for guests, residents, and employees to deposit refuse and recyclables,” said Kate Vasquez, GBB Senior Project Manager, who is assisting with the procurement process and previously reviewed and evaluated waste generation and waste management practices at the camp to suggest improvements that could be implemented.
The HEBFF camp is situated on 2,000 acres of Texas Hill Country, in the crook of a bend of the Frio River. The mission of the camp is to bring participants to a beautiful surrounding allowing them to examine and reflect on a variety of life matters, including faith, family, and their role in the world. The camp hosts more than 26,000 guests per year. When all six of the facilities are occupied, during the height of the season, there are approximately 1,000 people in residence. Additionally, four families live on the property full-time as caretakers, and 35 employees work on site daily.
“This project is part of our ongoing commitment to conserving resources and minimizing our impact on the environment,” said HEBFF Stewardship Assistant Coordinator Kevin Wessels. “This improved location will make it easier for our guests to recycle just like many of them are used to doing at home.”
“We invite interested bidders to come see our beautiful facility so they can both appreciate the surroundings and understand the technical requirements of the project,” added Trey Tull, HEBFF Director of Property Planning and Stewardship.
Bids are due to HEBFF by 10:30 a.m. local time on July 25, 2017. Interested bidders should contact Kevin Wessels (kwessels@hebff.org or (830) 315-9292) to get the RFB document and to set up a site visit during the week of July 10th.
