Furthering Equity and Justice in the Solid Waste Sector

In January 2021, an “Executive Order Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government” was signed, with a focus on addressing systemic racism and other forms of discrimination in federal policies and programs.

In Waste Today magazine — taking this opportunity to reflect and consider ways to advance equity in solid waste decisions going forward — Jennifer Porter (GBB Vice President), Eugenia Manwelyan (GBB Senior Consultant) and Page Davis (GBB Consultant I) provide three tactics to consider regarding how to continue the push toward greater equity and inclusion:

  • Take a Reparative Planning Approach
