As a specialized sub-contractor to GHD, GBB was tasked with providing task leadership and execution for the review of landfill siting and design requirements of federal and local laws and regulations to evaluate permitting and operational approaches for the new municipal sanitary landfill. GBB was tasked with working directly with island leaders and federal regulatory agencies to determine the applicability of all siting and operational criteria to each site to be evaluated. Also included were support and assistance with planning, site assessments, and the review of technical findings and site conditions related to landfill design, regulatory requirements, and socio-economic conditions and impacts on the surrounding area relative to long-term operations. GBB is also the primary lead for planning integrated waste management capabilities at each site, including waste diversion, green waste composting, and segregation of recyclables, to extend the lifespan of each site.
