With a mission to reduce and manage solid waste in an environmentally conscious, effective, and economical way, Barnstable County, MA, selected GBB as a subcontractor to Tetra Tech to identify waste disposal trends and the demographic and economic influences that affect the generation and movement of waste and recyclable materials within the County and throughout Cape Cod.

As part of the study to examine what to do with recyclables and the recovery of materials not intended for landfill or incineration from the 15-member towns, GBB was tasked with leading the stakeholder focus group meetings. Businesses and stakeholders were identified to participate in a series of 3 focus group meetings throughout the project. The task includes creating a virtual engagement tool for citizens to achieve outcomes similar to those of the focus groups, taking each user through a series of modules and/or videos to explain the current system, share examples of other systems, and then seek input on possible aspects of the County’s future program.
