Fairfax, VA (August 15, 2011) – Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc. (GBB) announced today that it has been selected by Curbside Value Partnership (CVP) to provide strategic operational planning guidance and serve as a technical consultant to assist in pursuing its objectives to help communities grow participation in their curbside recycling programs and help measure this growth to make better decisions. As part of this new role, GBB will perform efficiency audits on a selective basis to CVP partner communities, identifying operational and contractual efficiencies and program improvements that will help communities recycle more while spending less.

“As a consulting firm, GBB has assisted many communities throughout the nation with recycling/solid waste management strategic planning that yielded increased efficiency, reduced and stabilized costs and/or enhanced revenue, and substantially elevated waste diversion to reuse and recycling,” noted Steve Thompson, CVP Executive Director. “I believe that CVP will greatly benefit from GBB’s experience as we continue to partner with more communities across the U.S.”

“We’re excited to join CVP and to work hand-in-hand with them to create synergies and significantly move the curbside recycling needle,” said Harvey Gershman, GBB President. “Increasing recycling of all curbside commodities, creating jobs, and expanding recycling infrastructure are challenging objectives. I’m confident that the combination of GBB’s expertise and the commitment of CVP’s leadership, partners and sponsors will prove to be a driving force toward achieving these goals.”

The Curbside Value Partnership (CVP) is a 501(c) (3) organization designed to grow participation in curbside recycling programs nationwide. It is the only current national program that engages all recycling stakeholders (including government, private industry, haulers and materials recovery facilities) to identify solutions to improving curbside recycling programs through education and data analysis. CVP’s goal is to launch and study education programs to increase participation in local curbside programs, and make programs more profitable and sustainable. To date, 28 communities and four states have been engaged by CVP in education campaigns. The program is currently funded by members of the Aluminum Association (Alcoa, ARCO Aluminum and Novelis) and Can Manufacturers Institute (Ball Corporation, BWAY Corporation, Crown Holdings Inc., Impress USA, Metal Container Corporation, Sonoco-Phoenix Inc, Rexam, Silgan Containers Corporation and the Van Can Company) as well as Coca Cola Recycling. Other corporate sponsors interested in impacting recycling rates in a meaningful way are always welcome.

GBB is a national solid waste management consulting firm founded in 1980 that works on solid waste collection, processing, recycling, and disposal issues and assists in planning, procuring, and implementing sound, cost-effective facilities and services at the local, state, and national levels for both the public and private sectors.
